One of the methods for network connectivity not listed at http://majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=37 is that you can use your mains or power line to connect from a remote power socket to one near your router.

If you use http://www.amazon.co.uk/Devolo-1408...MMCQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1333892548&sr=8-2 or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Devolo-1409...MMC6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333892548&sr=8-1 you can extend the range of your network provided all your electric sockets are connected off the same mains circuit. These connect up to 200Mbps (there are faster versions) between your router and devices that you want to connect to the Internet, either wired or wirelessly.

This allows you to have a separate wired or wireless network connected to the Internet via your router at the extent of your mains supply power lines for your house. The network is encrypted across your mains supply so it cannot leak into the neighbourhood, especially as the network is limited by your mains supply to your property.

This work well in the UK (but i don't know about the applicability to the US) and have the router near the phone socket at one end of the house and extend the range of its Internet connectivity via the mains powerline plugs.
