Another video card question

How much of an improvement would these be?

I have AIW 8500 Radeon 128MB

Looking at

AIW 9600 128 MB

or

AIW 9600XT 128 MB

 

9600pro/xt are still good mid-range cards. 8500 Loses clearly. Just remember that 9600 is much slower than 9600pro/xt!

OldGeekzer, I am not sure how you use your system or how much you are willing to dish out but for $178, this card gives you the best bang for the buck!
IMO, any card you buy under $150 will not be a worthy improvement over your current card and least not worth the money!

 

I like to watch TV while browsing and also will be using the video editing software as my kids are into sports etc. That was the main reason at looking into the AIW or the FX5700 Mulitmedia ( I guess it does the same thing)

 

In that case, stick with the Radeon AIW series...getting additional MB on the new card should be the main focus, if you cant afford the 98xx series then 96xx shold be fine as well, how much of an improvement you will notice will also fall on your current system (mainly the CPU and system RAM).

 

it might give the best bang for the buck, but that was a PCI-E card, it wont work in an agp slot. to get the agp verion its a lil over 200 for one (xfx one anyways).

 

Yes but it doesn't matter at this point since it would not suit his needs anyhow.
