Another Vista question

I got a new computer, an HP super fancy (a gift) stuff I'll probably never use. It is set up to like make fancy video stuff.

Anyway to my question. So far the only problem I am having, is we have 3 users. My husband, myself, and my daughter. We have different screens, so we can all have them set up our own way on our profile.

When we "switch user", when you switch back to my profile, the computer freezes. Not totally sure if it is a vista problem. It never happend with XP. It has been happening since I got it, about 2 months ago. I have checked all the settings I can think of, like hibrination and things like that. Just thought I might check here and see if anyone was familiar with this problem, or knew another place I might look for an answer.

I only had one user on my Vista Laptop so I made 2nd just to see if it would happen to me as well. It did !!!! but what I found as well that if I logoff from the 2nd user and the logon to 1st it does not freeze. Maybe a Vista fault let see if anyone on the forum can also has the same problem.

 

I saw your problem in several posts at HP.
Apparently, HP doesn't have a clue how to fix the problem.
One of the posters suggested this:

I would disable it from Services, not msconfig.

hpqwmiex.exe is a process associated with HP ProtectTools security manager. It is not part Vista and is not a critical system process.
