Hi! I installed dotnet-sdk-3.1.419-win-x64.exe on a Win11/64 laptop and got one of the programs I downloaded to work. :) However, I want to get it to work on a Win7/64 laptop from a guest account. I downloaded the .zip version and can edit the account's environment variables, including the PATH. Do I just need to add the program's folder to the PATH variable? Or do I need to make out a lot of system settings? If the former, which subdirectory do I add?

Not answering your question, but you seem to want to do major software/user changes to your Win 7 computer... and your lack of admin privilege will just frustrate you every step of the way.

Why not buy a Win 7 license (they cost very little money nowadays). Or better yet, so long as your hardware is robust enough, get a Win 10 license? Or just leave it mostly for guest browsing/emailing and call it good? Portable browsers mean you can continually update even with a standard user account.

    I don't think it can use WIn10. Where can I get a Win7 license?

Thank you. Now, where can I get a Win7/64 install disk? I also want to keep all the stuff on the HDD. BTW, I have a CD/DVD-RW drive on both of my laptops, so an .iso file will not be a problem. :)

Thank you. Now I need a DVD-ROM. My mother has some. :)

I just looked at the link. I have three broken flash drives, and, if I can fix them, I can use one of them to store the OS. One says it needs to format, and, IIRC, I couldn't format it, and the other two are totally inaccessible. The latter appear in My Computer but are grayed out and show no capacity.

I'm in the process of reformatting one of them right now. It's taking forever. :( It's a 64GB flash drive and is being formatted with the FATEx file system. Will that work with the mentioned ISO?

Dude, go to walmart and buy a 8 to 16GB for like 10-15 bucks or less. Rufus will format it for you don't worry about it. Follow the instructions.

I have a 16GB flash drive I can recycle, and I'm making out the .iso file now. :) BTW, will the install delete my personal information? If so, I'll need to preserve the info. I have some huge flash drives to store the info.

Yes, the install will delete your personal info - so absolutely backup whatever you have on there that you wish to keep!

    Okay. Thank you. :(

One more question: I want to preserve some programs that came with the system, such as MS Office. How do I preserve them and their settings?
