    Windows XP SP2
    Athlon (TM)XP 2400+
    currently 2.0 GHz
    RAM info in next post
My new Windows was installed (reinstalled) on 2.06 GHz,
the repairman who was asked to check other things ,thought that my system is unstable or might be unstable because of this increased speed,so he took it down to 2.0GHz and went somewhere on holidays...

Everything is dying,Nod32 ,Quicktime,Winsock is up and down, lost somethings from Firefox, lost browsing history and all in short while....(Today!)

I don't really know anything about BIOS or clocking or overclocking, but I somehow susspect that now everything is going to fail just because of that...

I have lot of work and lot of browsing so,tell me do I reinstall again,or how can I quickly do something....and what other information do you need

    to be clear
Does this decreasing of speed can make things unstable enough,to bring everything(software) down,or am I imagening, because I don't know practicly anything about this...?

To me it sounds that you need to test your memory and that you may have a failing memory module, maybe?!? I had one dying and it started affecting my programs (transcription errors) and I uninstalled and reinstalled them and then another one would fail.

DL and run metest86 for at least 3-4 passes and see what this shows. Downclocking from 2.06 to 2.0 should make NO difference imho and the tech was pulling your leg. Have you down a complete virus and malware scan.

    I'm sorry for posting now
Scaning will be done with everything I can find
    For now nothing
    Nod32-0
    AdAware-0
    CWShredder-0
    Stinger -0

next will be everything else, including other AV programs
I will also try with memtest86,after
    Thanks!

I agree with Bold Eagle. Check your memory. Bad memory can do alot of damage. For me it was crashing my OS to the point where I had to re-install it
every month til I tracked down the cause. You might want to check the Memory
    stuff in your BIOS.

    thanks,I'll try,
is there anything that is obvious, like failed module nottification or something?
I never really looked in there ,and I really don't know much about it

When you run memtest86 it will be in dos, before the OS loads and if something is wrong it will show you. Then we can take it from there, i.e. how to diagnose?
