    Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone here is using the Antec Neopower 480 psu.
The back of my unit gets quite warm to the touch and I'd like to know if this is normal. I need couple of other pointers as well.

Here are a few pointers that might help you:

~ How old is the PSU?
~ How long does the system run before reaching the 'too hot to touch' level?
~ Are you running a system that would require a high wattage PSU?
~ How is the overall case temperature?
~ What is the ambience temperature like?

note: PSU are bound to get a bit hot especially when they are used extensive and for extended periods of time. More heat gets built up on PSU when the case and certain components such as CPU, Video card and HD does not get adequate cooling.

But the bottomline is: too hot to touch is not normal for a PSU!

    OK, here goes.
The PSU is less than 1 week old. It gets warm about 5 minutes after I start the comp. I'm not running a system that require high wattage PSU but I like the Noepwoer flexibility. My case is the Coolermaster TAC-T01 with 2 exhaust fans, 2 hard drive fans and a Zalman CPU fan. I'm not quite sure what's an ambience temperature means.
It never gets too hot to touch, just warm enough to make me wonder.
Are you using one of these?

First of with 'ambience temperature' I meant the environment (outside or the room the PC is located in) temperature but regardless despite all the fans considering the brand and how new it is there is a good chance the PSU is defective. In my personal experience, components like PSU, CPU, RAM, HD are morethan likely to go bad within the first few months (if not weeks) if there was a manufacturing defect.

Read the original thread again and you'll know why I asked

I see, I was trying to tell you that regardless of the make/model NO PSU should get that hot....but forget what I said and wait for a NeoPower user's feedback.
