Anti-Virus a decision

Hi, dear Staff, how are you?

This Dec. 31st my Norton 2004 will expire. I have the following possibilities:

1. to renew Norton

2. as I have Webroot Spy sweeper purchased, I have been offered to integrate it with antivirus at 10,0 $ The price seems reasonable.


3. I could switch to free anrivirus:

a. AVG free
b. Antivir (but maybe the free version does not scan the email, does it?)
c. Avast

Which solution would you suggest?

Actually, you might rethink that recommendation after checking out www.av-comparatives.org. I've been a longtime fan of AVG myself, but its detection rates don't compare to AntiVir, which has changed my opinions...

The only question about AntiVir is: does it have the funcion of scanning emails? I think it's rather important.
Please note Antivir PE Premium is not the free version. The free one is Antivir Classical.. are they comparable?

One good thing of Avast (for me) is that an Italian version is available..
But it'a not strictly ncessary if it is inferior...

If it were me, i would use:

Anti-virus: Bitdefender 10
anti-spyware: Spy sweeper

 

I saw that "comodo" give free anti-virus and firewall.From what I saw it's very good software.
