I have heard it said by posters here that Avast does a better job of removing viruses than AVG. Can someone explain to me the differences in how these two programs handle virus removal?

Ok another question on this topic. What exactly does it mean when a virus is in quarentine? I don't understand... is the virus neutralized while in quarentine? why not just delete it. I have seen this with avg in the past.

Files in Quarentine (or, in Avast, in the "Virus Chest") are isolated and prevented from interacting with other programs or files on your computer. While they are so isolated you can use the AV to try to repair, "heal", kill or otherwise "fix" the virus damaged files without putting your os in peril.
