Hi. No problems, just looking for an answer. When doing a full scan with anti virus / malware programs it takes over two hours. So what I'm asking is there a program that will shut the computer down when finished with their scans? I have seen some programs that have that check box, but can't remember which ones they are. I'm using Microsoft Security Essential and Malwarebytes right now. If it's going to take that long I'd like to get out and have a cup oif coffee at Dunkin Donuts ( sorry, Starbucks lovers ). Just don't like the idea of leaving the computer on when not home. Thanks. Windows xp / IE 7 / SP3 .

    Greetings, Coffee Guy...

I think BitDefender offers a shutdown option, and there may be others - I don't think avast! has one, which is what I use almost exclusively...

    Maybe a batch file?

Actually, if you go to Avast's scan settings and go to Scheduling, there is a box to check for shutting down the system after the scan is finished. There's also an option wake up the system for scanning if it's in sleep mode.

Verified on the Avast installation on the other PC :)

Well, I'll be - sittin' right there in front of me! :-o Thanks, Mimsy and plodr...

So, there you have it, CG - either explore another antivirus suite, or see if Mimsy can prove me wrong, once again...

Hi again. Just wanted to say thanks. Went with Avast. Now , I was looking for another Malware/Spyware program. Downloaded Advanced Spyware Remover. Wanted to do a scan, but checked the update first. W.O.T. came up with it's warning screen. So I deleted with Revo ( very nice program, that Revo ) I thought Iorbit's Advanced spyware was a good program. Any thoughts on that. Thanks again Frank

On my Avast PC I use Spybot for realtime protection (disable TeaTimer!), and the free version of Malwarebytes as a back-up scanner.

Thanks Mimsy. I'll give Spybot a look. Went looking down M.G. list of spyware and came across Iobits' 360. Has the same look has Advance. Updated 360, no trouble. Doing a scan with it right now. But will give yours a look. Thanks again for the quick replys. Frank
