Setting up new machine and will have separate partition for os and was wondering if i should install anti virus software on same partition as os or if it would be ok to put it on separate partition with rest of programs???

using xp pro and avast home.

    thanks in advance.

It doesn't really matter, you don't need it on the same partition. So if you're splitting installed programs from the main OS drive then you may as well install it to where the rest of the programs are.
