Anti virus question

    What is the best free Anti virus with the lightest foot print?:)

    I like Avira, though I find Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast good also, and none of those 3 seem to use too much system resources. I will say, IMO, tho, that one needs more RAM than we once did. At least 1gb. *Every* AV has a heavier footprint than it used to, but those are the only 3 I can stand. MSE works fine, and probably would/should be an obvious choice, but I've had problems removing it altogether on some computers so I'm not the fan I once was...plus it's so overdue as to be a bit rude on Microsoft's part.

    Norton or McAfee I wouldn't even consider anymore. Part of it probably just age-old bias against both of'em, and the fact they are always trying to sneak on our computers, and sure hate to leave...:-D
