Antivir AV guard

Hello,
i'm trying to find the best security setup for my laptop, and from what i read SpyBot, SpyWare Blaster and Comodo BOClean should be on this list (or should i pay for MBAM instead of the latter?). i also downloaded the Sygate firewall (which i'm still to instal).
so, the last thing is antivirus software, and Antivir was on the list in Chaslang's "How to Protect yourself from malware!" thread. This relieved me as i had it installed, but since the trial period is over, i'm not able to update it anymore. should i pay for it or delete it and get something different? or leave it as it is?

any comments about the programs i chose are greatly appreciated!

You can also get a free version of MalwareBytes.
SpywareBlaster is a good choice. And consider adding SuperAntiSpyware.

 

The free version of MalwareBytes offers no real-time active protection. The free version of SUPER Antispyware offers some minimal real-time active protection. BOclean has been more-or-less discontinued. I'd recommend either the paid version of MalwareBytes, the paid version of SUPER, or the freeware Spyware Terminator. As to Avira's AntiVir having 'expired'. The free version does 'expire' every 7-12 months or so. Uninstall it, restart the PC, download the newest release from this link and install it and you should covered for another year or so....

Wow, thanks so much for all the info. Dom, i tried AVG free before and i didn't like it. it seemed to be resource hungry, but maybe its just me. i think i'll follow dlb's advice and reinstall antivir.

As of CIS, 72mb will take ages at 55kbps , but its started already, so should be here anytime now. thanks for the advice.

as of realtime protection, from super and MBAM i think ill choose the second, just because i've had it for longer and i'm more familiar with it.

P.S. although i'll make sure to give spyware terminator a go, it's rated 4.62 on here, which is respectable from what i've seen.
