I've run through with the scan, spyblaster, spybot, ccleaner, and cleanup. when i logged back on the little umbrella icon reappeared, but it still wont let me update. do i have to reinstall? if so is there an explanation as to what happened? luv n stuff.

    Laurie,

Before you do an uninstall just check to see that you have got Antivir services and updater set to automatic in your services. Go to Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative tools > Services.

yes it is. and it used to work just fine, so thats odd. a few days ago, i noticed 'activity' on the puter, recieving files or something. i thought it was some kind of update, but couldnt find what. my task manager now sez im 'networking'. i thought that only applied if you had more than one puter. also something wierd is going on with yahoo. i am getting this.

You might have to try a reinstall for Antivir unless you get some other suggestions.

The Yahoo thing looks like a security setting.

i dont understand any of it. esp the networking bit. my son has been playing chess on line. i wonder if something is happening. am i being taken over by the puter aliens? i think the yahoo bit has something to do with their games. i cant seem to change the setting from multi player to single one, or at least i cant stop it being on multi player by default, which may well be the norm for all i know. some clever persom is gonna say 'press button 'a''. i ran trend house call and it didnt find any thing. i ran ewido and it found 1 trogan, and 7 adware, which it deleted. still cant get antivir to update, checked that it was set to auto, which it is. still keep getting the boxes.

so the antivir thinbg resolved itself. so i dont know what that was about, but its updating fine now. i am still getting the subframes message, and i dont know what a sub frame is, why or what is wants to navigate, to what domain, or even what a domain is. !!! should i just be letting it do its thing. (by that i mean hit the yes button) ?? do i need to reset something?? aloha :)

Frames are a method to divide a webpage into chunks.
    http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/present/frames.html#h-16.1
Domains are something like majorgeeks.com, cnn.com,

a domain is the name by which a computer connected to the Internet is identified. A typical domain name looks like this: www.ibm.com. The "www." refers to the fact that this computer is connected to the World Wide Web; the middle portion of a domain name is usually the name of the company that owns the computer—in this case,IMB ; the final portion of a domain name tells you what kind of site is served by this machine.

So putting this togather it looks like one portion of the website is trying to visit a non matching address, ie the site your viewing is yahoo.com and its trying to load something.yahoo.com. I myself would just hit yes, Hope that helps some laurieB
