AntiVir Personal Addition - Don't they know about version control

Why is it that H+BEDV uses the same version numbers when releasing updates? For example on 3/18/04 I downloaded AntiVir Personal Edition 6.24.00.07 from MG and now today 3/22/04 there is another AntiVir Personal Edition 6.24.00.07 here on MG. Note the binary size is different so something has changed. Even worse is that I have noticed in the past many AntiVir Personal Edition 6.24.00.0x (Updated) files appearing and the x does not change over many weeks but the files are actually different. Don't they know what version control is? Seeing the same version number over and over would make people feel they do not need to upgrade.

Note: I have not gotten around to using either of these versions I have download yet so I don't know if they show anything different after being installed. But still version number should change at each build and the file names should reflect that change.

 

Thanks robo! I glad to see someone finally responded and agreed. Now I know its not just me that thinks this is a strange procedure that they are using.

I did see that other thread too but could not comment since I had not installed the software. However that thread kicked me to finally make a new thread with a mini-rant about lack of version control. It had been bugging me for a number of weeks.

By the way there is another same version 6.24.00.07 here on MG's today.
I don't understand there logic behind version numbers.
