I downloaded the AntiVir software after reading about it on this website and I am having problems. I don't know what to do when it says virus found. I have options to delete, wipe, rename, qurrantine, etc. What should I do? Numerous pop-ups are apprearing saying it found a Trojan virus ... one after another.

What brand Anti Virus is it...is it AVG by chance...and does it say the trojan horse is "redriv.sys"???

Will be this one AntiVir Personal Edition ( name is a little confusing, when talking about AV )

Does it give you a name of the trojan? best option is to quarantine first if your not 100% certain those files it found are not false positives.

also I would run Trends Housecall online scan as a 2nd opinion http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

It's the free AntiVir listed under 'free antivirus downloads' on this website. Program name: AVWIN.EXE. I am a dumbbell. I eagerly wrote down the file path so I could go find the virus and delete, but did not write the virus names. I only have one virus name: Trojan Horse TR/Agent.AY.4

Few of the file extensions (which I don't know how to find) are:
    c: WINNT\IEXN.DLL
    C: WINNT\IPMO32.DLL
    C: WINNT\SYSTEM32\JIDTY.DLL

In response to running Trends Housecall, I thought I was only able to run one antivirus program at a time. Is that right?

Yes, but Trends Housecall is an online scan.

I restarted my computer and a thousand "virus found" boxes appeared one after another. Virus names include: Trojan Horse TR/Agent.AY.4 ; Trojan Horse TR\DLDR.AGE.BC.19.A ; Trojan Horse TR/Dldr.Agent/BQ

Do I really have this many viruses?

You should probably quarantine them. Have you done the online scan that Halo suggested to see if they are false positives?

Everytime I try to run the online scan, an I-Explorer error message pops up saying "Internet Explorer encountered a problem and needs to close" and I cannot finish the download. Now what?

I ran the HouseCall twice and both times, when reaching the "Summary" step, it shows that there are potential threats detected, but nothing is listed in the summary box. I watched as it was scanning but quit watching once I noticed my infected file number exceeding 370. Now what?

I havent personally ran trend online but if there is an option to clean the files then do it ;)

[Edit]And be sure too run the other two online scans to see if they pick up anything.[/Edit]

Typically, I rarely clean the files, I just delete and go. That is just me though. I find that cleaning rarely works. BUT, I make a note of what is being cleaned. If I recognise a file that I KNOW is a file that should be there, then I extract a good file.

Typical users should just attempt a clean, then rerun the antivirus scan and just delete the files and cross their fingers.

Or just post in the spyware forums...cause alot of viruses lately are merely "malware".

Same here I just delete if they are infected and if I dont recognize the file that is infected.
