Antivirus & Firewall compatible with Vista 64

Hi,

I have used AVG Free and Sygate Firewall (although discontinued) and cannot fault them, they are brilliant and best of all free!!!

I upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64 edition and AVG will no longer install, Grisoft say that if you want a 64bit compatible version then you have to pay for it

Sygate wont install either as only supported in 32bit mode, but that's a no go as they no longer offer the software whatsoever!

Does anybody know what alternatives there are that are FREE, don't hog up system resources and are reliable???????

I love Avast! on my x64 system. (may have to go to developer's site for x64 version)

I've found firewalls sadly lacking, however. I had one included with my mobo (Nvidia Forceware) which I found that I liked even better than Sygate, but not everyone is so lucky.

If you're not afraid of setting up your own ACLs, then maybe Ghostwall will work for you.

 

Oh yeah! I forgot I do have the Nvidia Forceware firewall!

I will definitely miss Sygate though I don't know why they stopped updating it it was fantastic
