HI,Antivir free,Avg free,Avast free home edition-----which of these three uses the least amount of resources. We recently switched from Avg to Avast and noticed Avast adds 4 items more to the "task manager" list even though Avast seems to be a more thorough program.
We don`t know about Antivir though.
    Thank you for any information

you should be considering low resource and best scanner, not just loweset resource usage. Avast uses about 15MB on my box, which is't bad. Antivir used (if I recall correctly) something like 6MB..
IMO, I would just go with what's best as 15MB is hardly a big deal.

Avast has 4 'modules': P2P scanner, Outlook scanner, Internet e-mail scanner, and the resident virus scanner. Select the custom installation and you can leave out any of these that you don't feel you need when you install it.
