antivirus software

whats the best virus software out there I don't care if i have to pay for it. I was running security through my cable company, thinking i was safe. My computer was full of viruses and spyware. I had to reboot my computer.

Although, no app is EVER going to be 100% secure.
IMHO, you're best to pick one you are comfortable using, and learn to browse safely. (I'd NEVER pay for an AV)

I know people who never run an AV app, and don't have problems.

As for a recommendation for an excellent antivirus program, I'd suggest using AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition.

I have used this freeware AV program for several years on all of my home based computers. Although I've had a few 'warnings' (which AVG Free immediately "healed") I haven't actually had a single virus infect any of my home computers since I started using it. Also the AVG Free Forum is excellent resource if you experience any problems or have any trouble getting used to the program.

If you like using the free version, the shareware version of AVG Anti-Virus (called AVG Internet Security) is even better then the free version and also offers a lot more security more features.

Also, Avira AntiVir Personal Edition is a very reliable freeware antivirus solution.

Side Note: If you still are having problems with the viruses that you recently found, I'd definitely suggest going to the following link BitDefender Free Online Virus Scan to immediately clean them out. It takes a while to complete this scan but it is worth the wait in my opinion.
