Alrighty then:wave ... at ease men:major I have these two monitors hooked up with winXP running. I see how to get both monitors on and working where the mouse can go back and forth, by going into display properties, but how the heck do I get one big display on the two monitors? I've seen images of what I want but no instructions on how to do it. That's why I am calling out for someone out here that has the set up I want and can tell me how to get the one display on the two monitors. Thank you for reading my post.:)

Well we'll need to know which video card you have and the driver your using, many older cards and older drivers won't let you.

If you have an nvidia card install the latest driver then go into properties,'setup multiple monitors' then select 'one horizontal span' that's it.

There should be an option to "extend my desktop" across multiple monitors in XP or you can (like Rikky said) check into the manufactures software or go to a third party like Display Fusion, UltraMon, or MultiMon.

rolleyes On the other hand that solution for XP won't work in win7 ... I installed the nvidia driver but there was no software like in XP and nothing to tell it to make two displays into one ... nor is there anything with 7 in the display properties :(... so I figure I will have to look at these third party software for assistance.:wave

Well sir ... so far I have been unsuccessful in finding a third party software that will allow me to put one display on two monitors. :confused The software suggested in an earlier post did not give me the option of doing a horizontal span:cry ... anyone that knows of a software that will allow me to do the on display thang please post.:wave

windows key + the p key, then hit it until it says extend on windows seven.

:wave Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. I still have two different displays instead of one even when I hit the extend tab. It seems pretty likely that win7 has no way to do a horizontal display. Curse M$:p

I was just about to argue with you and explain what you were doing wrong but I just tried it on my computer and I also cannot find the option anywhere,it was there in xp and some versions of vista but not windows 7 and apparently both Microsoft and Nvidia deny responsibility but it is Nvidia's fault.

Hmmm I haven't given up yet I want this resolved:major

EDIT One option is to run the game in windowed mode if possible and stretch the window across both monitors which are set to 'extend these displays

Also try this extend the displays then select a resolution that's a multiple of both resolutions in your chosen game and see what happens,as stated in the wiki link though if the game doesn't support the resolution there isn't much you can do.

:wave Well sir ... I tried to follow the suggestion in the link provided but finding the file he described in the driver did not exist. Then I tried to find the Nview program and see if the files mention were there. Couldn't find a place to download the file. I stumbled on to Nivida's support forum and the site had a tester that finds out what video card you have and what driver you needed ... it had one, with software like XP ... one problem ... no way to do a horizontal span like in XP ... now what is up with that?:mad It makes no sense what so ever not to put that feature in with all the gaming, movies, and flight simulators!

    I am completely disgusted:crybaby:rasberry:***

Most people just buy larger monitors instead of tying two togather, also a reason most dont do this is because of differing capiblities in the two monitors can really confuse/change what you see if you split a video game between the two. Ie the way contrast/brightness so on is handled. Wish i had a better solution, but your best bet is extend the display and then if a game supports it use a custom resolution.
