Two cable modems on one line wont' work unless setup that way by the comcast people. For the best modem recommendation you should call comcast as they can tell you what modems work best with there service.

  4. Do any of ya'll know a way to boost the power of a Dlink 624?I have two WAP11 linksys access points ver1.1 but have NO CLUE how to set them up. (they were given to me). Can't even find drivers for XP. The site only has them for 00,ME and 98SE?....confused. Anybody got any ideas?I read in the links for cat5e left that they could be set up in "repeatermode" or something like that but not sure how to do it with my Dlink. Or at all for that matter!!If I could do that it would solve my wireless problem.Oh tried the Highgain antenna idea and it didb't really do much at all. Maybe I can go an extra ten feet before losing a signal.(about 30 feet from the router).I really appreciate all ya'lls help here at major geeks! Best forum I've found so far!!And no wise cracks about how "Dumb" people are when they ask questions, now matter how simple . And I as lots of dumb questions ...alot!!

The link for extending distance is broken. Using the other links to find the first link here is the fixed version...

There was a site that used some simple homemade parabolics made from paper and aluminum foil that I liked.

    Anyone remember that link?

There are a lot of accessories and ways to do what you want. Most cards will accept external antennas, which means you can reposition for maximum signal.
