Any thoughts on Formatting the Hard Drive?

The format c: doesnt work on command prompt. Ofcourse it says in use by another process and then it says unlock it, I click yes and says cannot be unlocked or something like that.

Sticking the windows XP disc back in the computer on boot up does not go to the screen where you can format the former copy of windows xp that is already on the computer. The installation disc just goes right into the entire installation process all over again.

Any ideas on what to do. I just cannot seem to get this thing formatted and it has virus's on it.

 

With the xp cd you must delete the partition,
then create new partition,then format it.

Yeah you would think I was a pro at it.lol but I absolutely cannot format this hard Drive on my other computer.lol

Going to try what the other poster suggested.

On my other computer I also keep getting this weird xp pro blue screen saying

Driver IRQ_No_Eequal_OR_Less, who knows man.lol it never ends.

Have you tried to download drive utilities. Maxtor has maxblast and so on, what ever drive it is they have a program to partition,format and even zero out the drive. Maxblast is put on a floppy or burn to cd. It does a really quick format. Glad to hear from ya.......
