I just put together a system with an

    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    ASUS K8V-SE Deluxe Mobo
    512MB Ram
    ATI 9600XT 128mb RAM
    ATI TV Wonder
    WD 160GB ATA HD
    Sony DVD+/- RW
    Samsung DVD-ROM

When I boot up, it takes about 10 seconds to do all the system checks (even though quick boot is enabled). Then, the hard drive shuts down, the system waits for 30 seconds and then the Hard drive powers back on and windows starts. Once Windows starts, the system works fine and is plenty fast. It seems like I have a wrong setting in the BIOS. Any suggestions? Please emails me at adamcohen@umich.edu.

    Thanks,
    Adam
