Any way possible to upgrade my laptop???

My vaio laptop is a couple years old now, and Im interested in upgrading the RAM. Right now its at 448 but Id like to upgrade to at least 512 or higher. Would I just be able to go out and pick up some more RAM and attempt to install it, or is there somthing else I need to take into consideration??
Here are my specs anyways:

Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
2.79GHz, 448mb RAM

 

Your ram is allready at 512, your onboard video is using what you dont see, compatability is the issue in ram, i would advise you to go to Sony and see what ram they recomend. ed

 

Try www.crucial.com for an online check of what RAM your PC uses.

Before you buy, make sure how much RAM your Sony is able to use.
Most times there is a limit that the BIOS will accept.

Most laptops have only 2 slots for RAM, and maybe yours are already filled with2 x 256 megs. If you are lucky, it might be 1 x 512 with one slot free.

Everest will tell you whether 1 or 2 slots filled and what RAM specs.

Buy 2 x 512 or 1 x 1 gig if $$$ are OK.
1 x 1 gig will give room for more RAM or you can also fit one of your current chips into the spare slot. Bazza
