After years of using an "Old" Buzz Box welder, and Oxy/Acetylene I have finally decided to take on MIG/TIG welding(want to build an aluminium Trailer). I have narrowed my choice down to these two right now a ESAB Multimaster 260, or a Miller Shopmate 300DX

    ESAB 260 http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/7716/multimaster260ix7.gif

    Miller shopmate http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/4500/shopmate300dxiq9.jpg

Comments or advice gladly accepted, I am leaning more to the ESAB, mainly because it comes complete with MIG/TIG and DC stick accessories

Nice! :drool Can't advice, as my welding experiences are somewhat limited. But I have spent a few days on a course, and it is great fun! :D

I found MIG & TIG difficult... Easiest for me, and most fun, was acetylene, that came so easy for me! :) But you will have much use for either of those ones of course with the wider range of materials you can work on! :)

My old 150amp buzzbox has served me for 10 years I'v always planned on getting a mig/tig welder or some bottles just never got round to it

I cant help choosing either:D The most expensive one :D

Yea same here Love my "Old Buzz Box", but it is a pain when the material used now a days is so thin. Both are about the same price you SA RikkyLOL LOL there about $3,000 retail here across the "Pond", and they compliment my "Buzz" box as they have DC Stick capability as well as MIG/TIG capability. Right now "She who must be Obeyed" says I can look and find what I want, but until the "Cookie Jar" gets some more coin in it, thats all I can do:( ........Maybe if I go around the house pouting, I will get if for my Birthday, or Xmas

$3000! that comes to £1400:yum Thats alot for welder IMO,the most I'd be willing to spend is around £3-400 if I really wanted one.

That kind of money I'd be looking at a metal lathe and precision drill press :)

I have no experience with ESAB, but Miller makes a damn fine welder. That would be the one that I would get, myself.

Good luck setting up your machine shop.
