Anybody else picking up an Xbox tonight?

Yep, I have to get one for my little brother(just can't get him to convert to PC) Oh well he'll learn.

 

Nope. Never bought the original Xbox either. I'm waiting for the PS3.

 

I figure microsoft has enough of my money already. BTW man that Tardis avatar rocks.

 

My thoughts exactly about Microsoft which is why I never cashed in on the Xbox craze. Oh and thanks about my avatar. I love it myself.

 

I enjoy Xbox. Much cheaper than a computer, and just as much fun as gaming on PC.

 

I used to be a Dr. Who freak...we got it on PBS here in the States...and funny enough I just saw, last week, a Dr. Who movie. I think it was made in `94 or `95...I may be wrong. I only caught about the last hour but I loved it.

 

No Xbox for me... and the latest Dr. Who series is crappy and lame. The older versions are way cooler to watch. I used to love watching that show years ago.

 

I agree...the new Who series can`t hold a candle to the old one. The movie though, what I saw of it, seemed pretty cool and I will attempt to see the whole thing.

What I forgot to say is it was very cool the way Eric Roberts (bad guy, which he does well) got done away with.

 

Last console systems I owned was an Atari 2600 and a Sega Genesis.

 

Nobody has had a Coleco??

That is the one and only video game console I ever had...along with the game, "Zaxon"...anyone remember that??

Not sure when the X-Box 360 makes it to the UK but I've heard that theres gonna be supply problems for a while because demand for this is going to be huge...

I aren't getting any of the next-gen stuff until I get a HD TV and a decent sound system... and I think I'll let the PS3 and the X-Box 360 have a price-war or 2 first.
In a year or so these systems will be a lot cheaper than what they currently are.

 

Pretty crazy on ebay right now, people are paying 600, 800, even over a thousand bucks for one of these puppies. Linkydinkydoo

 

A handheld controler that shakes is no replacment for WASD and a good mouse IMO ....

 

Unless you're playing a beat-em-up or other button-bashing game...

Yea I have never enjoyed playing FPS games on anything but a PC - even Goldeneye on the N64 I found clumsy and arkward during my limited exposure to it...

I never get the PC versus Console arguements though, because each is a different horse for a different course. Even games that are released on all platforms simultaneously are typically designed for either a PC or Console market and are essentially ported.
Games like the GTA series, whilst extremely playable on a PC are much more pick up and playable on the consoles where the button layout has been designed for a control pad.

And I think this next generation of consoles will serve to simply integrate the console into the living room more and more without removing the need for a PC, or the functions/scope/applications/games it provides.

I love my PC and I love those games I have for it, games which would never work on a console, or at least not work anywhere near as well... the same can be said about my PS2.

 

In the shop I work in , we have Xbox 360's on back order for about 2 months.

(UK), I myslef am not a fan of consoles , they dont hold a candle to PC's , just my opinion.

I am still a Doctor Who freak. I'll never change.. even though it switched to Star Trek briefly, but that was a passing phase. The movie was probably made in '95 or '96 since it was broadcast in '96. I kinda liked it, but I'm also not happy that we don't have a DVD release of that. Oh well.. might as well buy the R2 one.

And from what I've seen of the new series, I like. Granted it won't be anything like the old series, but this is going forward. I am also happy it's back on TV and I'm just too anxious for more. Well apart from wanting to listen to more of the Big Finish audios.

I never had a Colecovision, but I wanted the Intellivsion. I had the 2600, but now I've got the 7800, an NES, a Genesis, original Playstation, PS2, Gamecube, and a Game Boy Advance. No, I'm not a gamer.

Anyway, back on topic after my ramblings. I'm wondering who actually did get the Xbox 360. I did see the article on today's links, and I must say there are some serious people out there wanting that system badly.

 

Someone got robbed today outside of a Best Buy parking lot right after buying a new Xbox. That's got to suck. The guy waited all night in the Best Buy parking lot to be one of the first people to buy one, and then gets robbed for it. Hooray for society!

For some strange reason tech products like this retail at the same amount in USD as they do in UKP which when you consider the exchange rate always seem unfair...

I got the xbox and I'm loving it, and I have neglected my PC. I went to go use it yesterday, and all was well, I left a download going while i went to make a sandwich, and I came back and it was not working anymore I can't boot up. I posted in the help section so hopefully they can help. I guess not BF2 SF for me. I"ll have to stick to PGR3 for now i suppose.
