Anybody know any French?

Have been using "regseeker" for quite a while now to clean the registry.

Today I used the program as usual, it scanned the files on C drive with no problem, got to the start of the scan of the registry, then stopped with a message saying

"Indice de liste hors limites (0)"

Anybody got any idea what this means?

 

google a french to english translator. on second thought, ill do it for ya, im kinda bored lol........3 mins later......

"Index of list except limits 0"

dont exaclty know what thats supposed to mean but there ya go

 

Sounds like a programming error. Something like 'listed index out of range' I'm not a programmer but error was cited in both C++ and Oracle.

 

This problem with regseeker happened after installing M$ Office Professional. Hopefully by knowing this may shed some light on the problem.

Actually the translation is wrong, suprisingly, normally using webbased translators actually gives you the right idea. Although it sure comes off as some horrible french.

Anyways, it's actually saying You have exceeded the limit of hours it can run. Which I'll assume means, you need to register to continue using the app. It's really poorly worded french, I can see why a translator would confuse it.

A more direct translation is something like "index of hour limit reached (0)".

 

It's a freeware app so I can't see that as being a problem. 'hors limite' means outside the limits. I didn't use a translator as I speak French though not well and I live in Quebec to boot!

Mean the number (0) is out of range so the program is searching i think bigger
then 0...

Your translation 'sounds' the best to me so far, if that makes sense to you. It does sound even more like a programming error to me with your translation.

 

BTW why would the registry error be in French?

 

Regseeker works fine scanning the registry in all Keys except HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.

Scanning of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT causes regseeker to stop and gives the "Indice de liste hors limites(0)" message.

Could just not scan that key. Hate something that doesn't work right.

 

I tried a scan and got the same error.

Found a fix for the problem, at least it worked for me.

Was having trouble with CCleaner. Would run a registry scan with CCleaner, delete entries it came up with, do another scan with CCleaner, and the entries I had just deleted, showed up again.

Went into the CCleaner Forum and found others that were having the same problem. Apparently, the permissions in the registry get all out of whack. So, I downloaded a program called "Dial-a-Fix", ran the tool that fixes registry permissions, and now deleted entries in CCleaner, stay deleted.

Figured if it corrected the problem with CCleaner, maybe it would fix the problem with Regseeker. Ran a scan with Regseeker and all went well. No more French info box!

"Dial-a-fix" v0.57.7 can be found here - http://djlizard.net/. I used the medium version. Worked great for me.

The program did restart some services I had disabled such as DNS Client, so be sure to go into your services and check to see if it started any you had stopped.
