Anybody use linux?

    i'm getting ready to try it but where do i start?

    susi linux pro 9.2 or mandrake linux 10.1 - what's the difference?

    and what about these folks open source?

    as far as i know the only difference is the visual side to the different versions. I have only used redhat shrike. Each maker will add their own things to the os but it is all based on the original open source operating system.

    Your better off going with a well known brand like mandrake or redhat because it will be easier to get help if you run into problems which you will most likely do if yo have never used it before.

    You might want to check out the Ubuntu distro if you want something that is going to be very easy to use:

    My coworker has witnessed the install, he said its crazy easy... I have signed up for the free cds, but they haven't arrived yet. If you have the bandwidth, you could download them.

    Mandrake, SuSe, and Red Hat are the main distros.

    I found Mandrake a bit difficult to work with, I suggest SuSe or Red Hat, specifically Fedora Core 2 or 3.
