I have a Coolermaster Hyper 48, and while it works great, the fan tops out at 1400rpm. Now if I had a PWM controlled fan header (Just a three pin header here), I can get it up to 3200rpm. Does anyone know an easy way to get this fan to run at full speed? Easy as in, doesn't require me to rewire it ;)

Its sufficient running at 1400rpm, and actually, usually runs at 600-800rpm. However, I'd feel better about overclocking if I could get the fan to run at full speed.

    Ideas?

    AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Newcastle
    1gb PC3200 DDR
    ATI X800Pro
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
    Maxtor 300gb sata 150 drive w/ 16mb cache

yeh the cpu fan header is speed controlled, but the system fan headers arnt they always run at a full 12v,theres one 2 inches above the top right corner of your heatsink,so your fan should reach. :)

Hmm, think I could get away with that? Thats a pretty simple solution ;)

Of course, its going to break at least part of the Cool and Quiet feature of my motherboard.

    Won't it?

would just mean your fan runs at full tilt all the time? with no CnQ speed slowdown on the fan only.

You cant enable cool and quiet anyways while your overclocking, the reason amd left the lower multipliers unlocked was so CQ could knock it down to half of stock, thats x6 on my board, the mobo slows the fan down as it senses the temp drop, this is all fine, the problem comes that when you decide to use your cpu again,CQ puts all your Multiplier settings back to stock,if your running 250fsb with a lower multiplier and it suddenly jumps back up to the stock it will force your cpu to run at a stupid speed, for ex

I'm running 260fsb x10=2600mhz if CQ knocked my multiplier back up to stock x12 on my chip it would be at 260fsbx12=3120ghz and would instantly probably fry the chip

PS its a pretty common misconception that cool and quiet slows your fan down,it doesnt, your mobo controls the speed of the fan, even with CQ disabled,if your cpu starts to get too hot the mobo will speed up the fan to cool down the cpu,if it is plugged into the cpu fan header :)
