i dont know if this is a PC only forum or not but PC knowledge might help here as well.
If i got a powermac from the states, what would i need to do to use it over here with our power supplies? would a simple transformer work? would i have to change the power unit inside the box? would the components even work?

    cheers

If the power supplies are anything like the ones used in PCs (which I would guess they are) then all you have to do is flip a switch on the back of the power supply from 115V to 230V.

It depends how old it is. I think that the later powermacs had voltage selectors. If not, you can always go to maplins (or order online) and get one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/module.asp?CartID=040615202945210&moduleno=3708

It allows you to run 115V appliances from 230V mains UK. That is, unless you can find a voltage selector switch, which most modern bits of kit have.

Oh yes and I did know about macs in the Performa 5700 times, and a few below. My dads company used to use a lot of them. I'm a wiz with mac OS 7.1 ;)
