Anyone know anything about Macs?

A freind has an eMac. She spilled a cup of fruit punch onto the keyboard. She shut it down, removed the keyboard and attempted to clean it out (I'm assuming she just turned it over and let it all drip out). She then immediately plugged back in the keyboard and tried to power up the machine. Nothing happened when she pressed the power button.

She went and got a new mac keyboard, and the same results.

Could spilling something on the keyboard fry the PC? I've never known that to happen with PC. I'd think at most it would ruin the USB bus.

This thing is dead! I tried powering it up w/ or w/out the USB keyboard and it still won't work.

It does however seem to make that weird CRT noise when I hold the power button. Nothing else happens though, and the LED on the power button never comes on. I looked at the Mac website, and searched a few Mac forums, but could find anything about keyboard spills frying the PSU or mobo.

Anyone have any experience with Macs or any ideas on what to try? I found a little reset button next to the RAM slots, but that didn't help.

Sorry, I can't help. A friend asked me if I knew anything about Macs and I said I didn't and mumbled something about the reason people have Macs is because they don't need servicing.

 

My SX25 box in 1994 had a bath in Apple juice. It blew a fuse on the motherboard. It was a warranty item. The fuse was soldered to the MB.

I was VERY careful how I drank near it after that.

she can get a PC for only 8 times the price of a keyboard!
