    Hi everyone :wave,
well I am stumped and figured maybe someone here would know about this.
I check my pc regularly and try to keep it running at it's best.

Yesterday I saw that a exe is starting up that I do not recognize. I have tried to find the actual exe in the location where it says it is and can't find it. :banghead
Basically I need to know what it is and if it is dangerous. The exe is named kdjln.exe and it is supposed to be in my system32 folder. Does anyone know what this is and what it does?
    thanks in advance
    GB,

Could not even Google an answer to identity. Suggest updating and running what antispyware you have. May be innocent, but why take chances.

    Hi and thanks for replying,
I googled it also and couldn't find an answer. I plan on doing that but I figured someone else may have ran across this also. I will post a reply if it comes up spyware or virus.
    Thanks again GB,

    Hi

You could upload that file to this online scanner for checking http://virusscan.jotti.org/ (may or may not find anything) however with the location it is in and the random text I would suspect its a component of a malware infection.

Need to follow this info READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide and then post a new thread with information on your issue here in the malware forum and be patient s that part of this forum is very busy.

As I understand it, your computer is looking for this "kdjln.exe" file and can't find it in the system32 folder. That means, perhaps you had something that shouldn't have been on the computer but it has been removed by one of your security programs.
Is there a kdjiln in your startup folder If so, right click it, select properties and post things like date, size and company or anything else you can dig up from the properties.

Random lettering is a common tactic used by malware.

Perhaps if it is there, it's masquerading as a (hidden) system file. Do you have system files hidden? Try un-hiding them and then look again.

Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > 'View' tab > UNcheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

Hide them again afterwards if you prefer. This is for XP. Not sure how w/ Vista.
