Anyone planning on a massive build this October/November...?

Hello peeps, new here!




I've been a Geek since my Texas Instruments Ti4A-99/TRS80 days. Been a gamer equally as long. For me, they go hand in hand.



But as much of an enthusiast as I am, I really never went overboard and found bang for the buck is important, even if it wasn't always conscious to me.

Coincidentally, I've always remained a cynic of marketing and exaggerated claims.

So, I've made well informed choices in building/upgrading/buying over the many years. I tend to be a tad frugal, but I will spend generously on quality or craftsmanship when possible.

My friends, ... the stars are aligned!




IMO,

I strongly believe that, this fall, is one of the absolute best times in history to build a new computer. Period!

And I am highly anticipating my next build. (Hence this thread)





Ok,

Following the hype, law suites, failures, false promises, etc over the years I am a bit cynical but really see the culmination of several key technologies and standards as monumental factor.

The collision of Microsoft's Windows 7, Intel's Coree i5/i7, Solid State Disks, DirectX 11.0, cheap memory, physics, 64bit OS, HD 5800 series, multi-threading, etc... all hitting each other this fall, is going to be really impressive to watch.

Many of these are 2nd gen iterations, but now brought down to reasonable costs. Enough for even my frugal azz to be planning on a $1500 rig.



Any of you freaks out there like me...?

I'm as technical as they come, hardcore even (witnessed several WR on Overclock this summer in person, etc). But I really like the laid back atmosphere of this board.

I'm not unique in any sense, just one of the many from the old coven looking for others to chime-in and discuss their potential builds, etc.




Plus, who isn't stoked about playing games like ARMA 2 in a few months time..?
