Hello Good people.have not been here for a long time(computer issues),I see your virus forum is read only so have to ask here.have 64 bit Vista laptop now.installed security first then bought malwarebytes from the site, have SAS(lifetime subscription) and ad - aware-SE personal too( I know I know overkill)To the title/topic at hand has anybody checked ths out?http://www.k7computing.com/it seems like it could be a good suite(everything needed there).reason for asking is to be honest Kaspersky(KIS) support leaves a lot to be desired.although I have until Nov. 2010 to do anything I am searching out alternatives to it.above looks pretty good as one and it claims not bloatware too actually says it is light on resourses.Thoughts or Suggestions? could it be something too good to be true,My own first thought.still looking but not seeing much. Thanks in advance

had a look around at other download sites and this program has an average of 3 to 4 star rating .the editors reviews are basically the same word for word and there were only a few user reviews not much to go by really. myself personally if i was going to pay a subscription for a security program or even just an antivirus program this would not be one i would choose.

Like you said Capn it does sound to good. Why don't you post this in the lounge and see what others have to say about it. Would be nice if some users of the product had posted some reviews so we could get a better opinion on it. It says it was just launched so it may still have some bugs that need to be worked out yet. I'm kinda with iwunderdownunder there on this one.I'll pass until there's more insight.

apreciate the reply and candor to this post iwunderdownunder mate.I will still be looking to replace KIS though.right on about the reviews and why the last part of the original post states could it be something too good to be true?if anyone has any other alternatives I am interested.prefer a suite if possible without being bloated like the ''top'' names.all ears here and time on my side.NOD good and/or CA 2009? gotcha bigtrucks but isn't there a rule about posting the same thing twice.do not want to get in trouble

if i were going to pay for a pc security suite i would more than likely go with Zone Alarm security suite as i have used there firewall for a long time. here's a guide to the top 10 security suites available gives you something to compare " http://internet-security-suite-review.toptenreviews.com/ ".if you are looking around its a good place to start just depends on how much you want to pay.

I just installed ESET Smart Security on six computers in an office.
If I were buying a suite, that is probably the one I'd buy.

they have a 30 day trial so you can see how it works for you.

Hi Capn, i myself formerly used KIS but over the last year it has become a bit bloated, so now i just use there AV and Comodo firewall.

I now can't recommend an "all in one" security suite from any company, as for K7 i have heard of them and it is a reputable company, but i couldnt recommend them, as i would strongly advise you to either go with NOD32 AV (eset) or KASPERSKY AV as they are always top in the detection ratings.

Hey Cap - So you have MBAM, SAS, AdAware all real time.
Plus KIS is an AV & antispyware :eek
    Agree with you over kill

    Check out chaslang's post #5
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=44525

Keep away from CA. I was on their forum a few days back. Horror stories :-D

Don't know about K7. If memory serves - dlb did a review on MG's.

What problems do you have with KIS? Could be all the security you have running real time.

    Cheers..

Oh my, if you have all those running "real time" that is not overkill, it is infact closer to underkill as none of the prog's can do ther thing properly, and it can cause many crashes and or errors.

The only "REAL TIME" monitoring that you should have going really is your AV and Firewall, everything else should be reserved for "ON DEMAND" scanning only.

Hi sikvik, first.I read that thread before I posted.
    will check #5 though
Yes I have MBAM and SAS(both paid for)

Thank You for that tip about CA
was already starting to think eset or zone alarm .
have time to check out others but those are top contenders IMO

    guess I could lose ad-aware(free)
it did tell me about something found however(the size)

What problems do you have with KIS?

    let's see
    MBAM found 11 Trojans(2 files,9 registry keys)
asked their forum about this w/screenshot
on forum.they are not fond of anything not kaspersky
to keep their forum clean I sent several PM's
to a um ''top moderator'' comeback was as follows as
best I can remember(don't save them)
he said just send the 2 files to the lab not anything on the Reg keys
stating that would just confuse them and slow up a reply.

    remember this is ''support''.

went on to say please do not contact him anymore
unless it was something important.guess Trojan.BHO is not.
this is just one of many things they do not lke/or do.
    one more example:
the mods there delete inquires on member issues(3 of my own)
I am also a moderator in another forum on a different subject so
I know what and how any moderator should act like.

his inaction/reaction was totally not right.
in fact I will not even post there anymore.
phone support is an absolute joke unless someone has hours to kill waiting on hold.

as to your statement KIS is an AV & antispyware

MB is about malware so spyware is in another classroom huh?
if so how could MB detect something it(KIS) should have? curious indeed.
If I had to take out any realtime (did not know or think AS conflicts)

    what would this BB suggest?being 2 are paid(one lifetime)SAS
MBAM was a one time fee too, great program.SAS - jury is still out but outstanding support as is MBAM

Thank You all for the input thus far.been enlightening -sorry so long honest.want to understand it takes the explanation. Not big on long posts in my own forum(s)

KIS is an AV and a Firewall, and all AV prog's will (try) stop any "spyware" aswell.

"Malware" is a generic term for all "MALicious-softWARE" that include spyware and any other type of 'ware or virus or trojan or any "interhoo baddie"

I've run, McAfee, Norton, Kaspersky, and have friends that run Trend Micro and various other security suites. In my opinion, Eset Smart Security is the only way to go. I currently have it on 6 of my home computers, and after almost 2 years, I have had zero problems with it.

    Thanks Q
what all those? three! none run at the same or realtime time or even overlap
Good points though.know what Malware is short for So if I
have their AV and Firewall, antispyware, etc why do or are they giving
me a hard time?they will not fess up that KIS slipped up and let something through.therefore when the time comes or maybe even sooner reading
its become bloatrware.the Zone alarm suite gets it here, can't speak for others.

wait till my cousins and Co.hear this :major again Thanks all for helping out in this.makes deciding a whole lot easier.btw MBAM's default is set to their own realtime Time.can fix SAS for On demand like Ad-aware is.
have to drop by more often time pemitting

Absolutely Yes.I and a select few others(more to come) who had Kaspersky 2010 that would not play nice with other apps Now have Eset Smart Security 4,methinks everyone is happy now.tip o the hat to jeepdriver for that info.:highfive
