any like to teach me? im serious, heheh watched thebroken ep.s so now im like all into computers now lol, its awesome... but can anyone here tell me what overclocking is? i think its somethin to do with your processor but thats about all i kno lol

 

Overclocking is running your hardware at higher and faster frequencies than they were manufactured for.

Lets say you have a 1 Gigahertz Processor. If you moved the processor multiplier up one to 1.1 Ghz that processor would be overclocked. It causes more stress and heat but can improve performance.

 

I'd like to ammend Wookie's post by adding:

Overclocking is not something you want to do if you're brand-new to computers and/or value the equipment you're planning to overclock. Even the mightiest systems can crash (hard) when under the stress of overclocking.

 

Gottheit's words are wise. Unless you can afford new hardware incase of an accident I wouldnt get into it.
