Hmmm, my copy is 1.2 and dated Nov 24. Man that's 4 releases in one month. He's burning the midnight oil.

I have it on one machine... slightly different interface, but other than that doesn't seem to be really different...
it may be behind the scenes, but from a user standpoint it is about the same.....

It also seems to do a better job than AdAware does - it caught lots of stuff that AdAware missed on my system. So, I give it a "thumbs up" so far for being free and doing a great job.

My version is also 1.2 and dated Nov 24 but there is little to choose when compared to AdAware, each spots something the other doesn't.

Also in SpyBot 1.2 is comment regarding Internet Explorer immunity where it states that SpywareBlaster provides a better immunity, perhaps this is in 1.3?

    Spyware Blaster

Spywareblaster is the best I've come acroos so far as it runs in the background & eliminates spyware before you even know about it. For the past 6months after the seniors on this site gave option features to different types of spyware...I chose spywareblaster. In combination w/AdAware...it's scan may produce 2 tracking cookies a month if that much so these 2 spyware componets are credible.

    Re: Spyware Blaster

Well, that's sorta right and a little bit wrong, vest36. I hope you won't mind if I expand a bit on your post.

Spyware Blaster only runs when you run it. If you select everything in its list and then tell it to protect against everything that's checked, it adds entries to your registry that keep new spyware programs from installing themselves. Once it has written the "stop bits," it closes and does nothing more until the next time you run it to check for updates. It never runs in the background, so it uses zero resources.

If you have used it before and you check for updates and there are NO updates, there is no point in running the immunizer again. It has already done everything it can do for you, until there is new data to download.

And it's kinda true that it "eliminates" spyware, but it's more precise to say it prevents spyware. Ad-Aware is a spyware eliminator. Ad-Aware finds spyware and quarantines or deletes it, as you choose.

Spyware Blaster prevents it, so that nothing else has to eliminate it.

No...absolutely appreciate your knowledge. You are precise...it does prevent spyware. I trust it's software so far...it's doing a credible job.
