Anyone used Win Media player 11? is it better than 10?

I get the message that WMP11 is available and would I like to update. I say no (I run xp sp2) as I had heard that it was some sort of DRM nightmare but dont really know if that is true or what exactly that means for me.

Are there any benefits to upgrading to WMP11 over 10?

 

i dunno about benefits by upgrading to WMP 11 but personally, i like itunes and winamp better. its got some cool features but its too slow for my liking. it just bugs me, maybe because i just never got used to it, but i dont like it. it IS better than WMP 10 though IMO

 

Thanks viper boy, could you tell me what you think is better than 10? I never like itunes at all and havent used winamp in years - does it play all types of media or is it just audio?

For me WMP loads pretty quick and I dont mind it (prefered V9 over V10 though, the previous playlist used to stay when loading it back up and that friggin permanent napster ad it V10 shite me to tears).

 

i just like the interface better. i found it easier to sort songs, create CD's, browse music online etc...It looks pretty snazzy as well.

from what ive read, the big PC mag/website people like it better than the end-user, ex) people like us

 

I agree... the main difference I've found is in the GUI (interface). It's also a bit easier to use... if you're familiar with WMP10, then WMP11 should be no problem.... is it 'better'? That's a matter of opinion... I'd say it's different, not better or worse, just different.

I much prefer it.

It looks prettier and more importantly has a simple drag and drop interface for adding CD covers. OK, that's only really important to me because I'm on XP Media Centre Edition (applying CD covers was a nightmare in WMP10).

 

IMO

11 > 7 > 8 > 9 > 10

11's UI is much better as everyone is saying
Also, I've yet to see WMP 11 consume as much memory as 10.

iv tried media monkey , i tunes , winamp and prefare wmp11 by a mile
pros :
-very easy to create playlists and mix cds
-can create data cds also very simple
-nice interface
-really easy to familirise with

cons :
- cant think of any so far maybe codecs like .flv but thats rare enough so
