Is anyone using gmx.com for their e-mail? I joined but was advised later that I need IE7 or Firefox for it to work. As I don't have either as yet (and don't want them yet), I cannot proceed.

I want to opt-out, or send them an e-mail to opt-out, but cannot find any "Contact us" or e-mail address to tell them.

    Can anyone help me? Bazza

    Hi Bazza

Contact Us page, even though it says about Password the onlien email box has area for feeback so would be your best option.

I thought you bought Vista in another thread? if you are going Vista you will have IE7, so maybe worth keeping email address if its a unique one to you, before someone elses snaps it up, just a thought.

Thanks Halo, as usual. :D I have purchased Vista but have not installed it as yet. (Dual boot problems to solve ;) Thanks for the link. I must have missed it. bigbazza@gmx.com is already gone. Others I use are still available. Do you use gmx.com at all. Lots of reviews saying that is slow. I guess accessing the UK site from OZ isn't going to help in speed terms anyhow. Might go to gmail instead. :confused Bazza

    Hi Bazza

I dont use it as I already have too many email addresses to keep tabs of these days... seems like its too new and doesnt have the bandwidth capabilities yet to handle many users.

3xGmail including one which is my real name.
    1xHotmail
    1xMSN
    1xLive
    1xISP
    1xWork
    1xMajorgeeks

Gmail is good, but I find some editing options not as good as Hotmails, plus I use Windows Live Mail to manage all of them and it does it really well, including Newsgroups and RSS.

Thanks Halo. GMX quote::D from PCUtilities mag #96, p32.
These caught my eye but a visit to their forum found many complaints about "slow".

Being in OZ and linking to gmx.com in the UK ain't gonna help either.

As I am now operating with Vista Home Premium and IE7, maybe I'll give it a try.

Yes do so on either GMX or WLM, but generally the big boys have the edge in this area and have massive bandwidth to cover millions of users, I don tuse Windows Mail in Vista but prefer WLM as its functionality is much better, just need a portable version ( already chatted to team developing WLM on this ).

Thanks Halo, again. I assume WLM is Windows Live Messenger :D (for anyone else reading this). Bazza

After 5 failed attempts to upgrade my IE6 to IE7, and 3 attempts to load Firefox, I finally succeeded in logging onto www.gmx.com

Speed is not too bad considering it is Australia--->UK and return.
I think I will be using thsi as my consolidation of various e-mail addresses.
It imported all my e-mails from aol.com without a hitch so that is a good recommendation, IMO.

As for IE7, it refused to upgrade. I tried various methods, including deleting Avast as IE7 recommended disabling the AV program. Latest version of Avast does not allow disabling. Even Process Explorer would not kill it. I tried various MS Knowkledge Base suggestions and couldn't get them to work either. Stuff IE7, life is too short.

As for Firefox, I think I tried to be too smart and load in lots of add-ons in my early attempts. I finally succeeded with a bog standard install of Firefox.
Maybe I'll investigate add-ons later. I did however load Speed Dial. :D Bazza
