    Hey

My Dads laptop has AOL installed on winxp service pack 2.

The laptop (asus higrade ultinote AS8400) has a P3 1GHz, 192mb RAM, plenty of free HD space (22GB).

When browsing AOL on 56k dial-up, i get connection problems constantly. That AOL reconnecting dialogue box is always popping up, and usually it just kicks me off anyway. Ive got all the settings correct, and ive used the AOL connection setup tool to no avail.

My cable, phone line and everything else are all in order.

My modem drivers are upto date (ESS Es56CVM-PI data fax voice modem on port COM3)

I also keep getting this popup saying:

    Incoming Call
ISP does not support modem on hold. If you accept incoming call, internet connection will be terminated.Do you want to accept the call.

    YES NO

What is that? What program keeps displaying this message?

I think its a big con by AOL. I think they keep disconnecting AOL dial up users so that they upgrade to braodband. Or they just dont pay enough attention to dialup anymore, and they dont have the servers to support it.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Jp

    Hey jpmad4it,

Saw your post while I was cruising thru looking for help of my own. Don't know exactly how to do it, but your problem may be "Call Waiting" if you have it on that line. I think you're suppose to deactivate it when using the internet on a Dial-up. Could be wrong, I'm just learning myself. But there's an idea for you to checkout. Good Luck!

Hey, its my first post I know, but I use to really be a Sergeant E-5
