AOL & Kernel32.dll error

No one has been able to resolve this problem.
I have a Hp Pavilion running at 2.4 ghz w/128mb ram and 20g hard drive.
Running WinMe.
When i try to load Aol 9.0 security ver i get the following error:
AOLSETUP has caused an error in Kernel32.dll. Aolsetup will now close.
I have talked to AOL & Hp and neither can correct. I can load the Spanish
version off of the same disk, I am not spanish. What is the problem.
P.S. - Have two Hp's the same and both give same error. Running WinMe.
Tried annoyances.org and disabled all running programs with Ctrl-Alt-Del except Exp, Systray, & Rundll. also dwnld ie6.0. Nothing works.
Help!!
