I saw this on another forum and felt obligated to my fellow computer using humans to pass this along, for we are nearing the bitter end to something called customer service....

When I had AOL back in March, it was a 90 day trial, so when I call to cancel my acc, it was a similar experience, took me 10 mins to cancel my acc  .

Their Customer Service will be like any otehr companies and it just all hinges on the customer service operator you get, never had contact with AOL, but as a generalization to most companys CS, they are the face or point of contact you have with the company and how you judge their service, some CS operators are superb and will bend over backward to help ( returning calls when they say they will ), then you get the complete ass who sadly this poor guy got.

    I totally agree with Halo.

I wrote about this too, support sux, especially the over seas support.

    I just recommend that people:

    1. call early in the morning and
    2. If you get a bad person, hang up and try again.

It's a shame, but it's the way of the world.

BTW, the reason AOHELL is so hard to cancel is because the losers working there get a bonus for every customer they retain or sell something to.

That's why they hang up on people, and make them jump through hoops.

I also saw this in a article on msnbc, and AOL had to issue an apoligy and that CSR is "no longer with the company".

I was able to cancel AOL without any problems. The best way to do it is to not get started answering questions about why you want to cancel, I gave the required information but refused to answer why I was canceling other than because I wanted too. Told the guy I didn't want to chit chat just wanted my conformation number.
Total time with being on hold about five minutes. This was about six months ago.
