I'm at the library with only a few minutes. Since 11/6 I have not had any internet. I was connected, went to do something else and was disconnected. I checked the modems (internal and external), the wires, the jacks. Some of the error messages say "the modem can not detect a dialtone", but there is a dialtone. I've had ATT check the line, I've switched out the wires. I've called the modem, AOL tech support. Another message that came up was something about the COM Port being used by another app or something. I removed the firewall and disabled AVAST - ALL TO NO AVAIL!!! Any ideas? I will check in on Tues. THANKS!!!

System restore to a point before 11/6 if it's available.

tgell - THANK YOU! That was very helpful. :) I'll report back.

cabbiinc - I've tried to use SR several times back to August and Sept and it won't restore. All my AV, AMW programs are clean and this is a fairly new computer (2009). Thanks so much for your help! Again, I'll report back. Hopefully I will be able to stay on the library computer longer Wed or Thurs.

    Thank you all! :)
