Ok Have a HP pavilion dv2000 and the slate was wiped clean and I put in the product key no.# and started working on it for my daughters family. Of course it put the factory trial crap on and that's what I am trying to do now is remove a lot of it. It has the AOL :eek(my worst nightmare)and I don't see it in the Add&Remove Program, so is it safe to say it hasn't been installed and that I can delete all and any files/folders I may find and it will be gone?! (Gees that sounds to simple to be trueLOL)

Could try by going to Start, Search. Type in AOL then delete all without prejudice.

    Hey bt

Generally, it is not actually installed if it's just the trial crap they put on, but have you ever used Revo Uninstaller? I would recommend using it. If it is installed, it will show up in there and you can remove it through Revo.

Sounds easy enough, but what if she has to go to an AOL site? Will she still be able too? That is the only reason I didn't delete it from mine.. Yeah, mine came with AOL too, already installed, but I never used it...rolleyes

It is still there.. I'll see what BT does, and take a hint from her LOL

Excellant, Laura! Yeah, REVO does do a heck of a job removing ;)

EDIT: I have connectivity an dcoach showing in add & remove programs.. Might want to check REVO, BT..

@ hrlow- Yeah that was my idea but, I've encountered AOL several times before and it really became a "Cat Scratch Fight" between myself and it. Eventually I won.I had two encounters and thought it was over.:cry
@ lauraR & TC- I do have And did check the Revo and it doesn't show anything in the list BUT, when I did the Junk filter scan it showed one that I didn't find when searching myself. This was the reason I asked if it was safe to say it hadn't been installed yet. I will follow through like I started to as hrlow suggested and just delete anything affiliated with it and get back with the results.

    Thanks Everyone

EDIT: I did it again. Hit the Preveiw post instead of Submit. Thank goodness for the back button.rolleyes:-oLOL

well it took some double and a few triple deleting and recycles but I seem to have it cleared out. The hardest one was the desktop icon. I tossed it to the recycle basket 3 times dragged it there 2times. I then had to rite click on the icon-properties-file location-right click-delete until it was gone. Restarted 3x but once was for the update installs. Time will tell.
