I have a new computer which has norton internet security installed as a 2 month trial version. The subscription is about to run out. I have broadband from a cable co, but i also use aol occasionally. Would I be ok downloading the aol security edition and using the FREE mcafee antivirus that comes with that version of aol or should I simply PAYand continue with the norton program. I am a unsure weather the mcafee program runs and protects you when you're not using aol (which most of the time I am not).

Thanks for any advice and information.

There are many free Antivirus and firewall solutions here on this very site.

I currently run avast! and Kerio... Both free and just as effective as the paid versions.

AVG and antivir are also solid FREE Aintvirus programs.

For firewalls, consider Zonealarm, Outpost or Kerio are popular options.

  3. Yes it will protect you offline as i had to help someone with their computer and they received mcafee through aol and it is the full mcafee security suite so you are protected and it autoupdates.
