Before I tell you about my problem I just have to say that I absolutely love this forum!!! It has helped me with so many things and I know that I can always come here for advice and instructions!! Thanks to all!!!!

OK - here is my problem.....for some reason my aol software will not load any webpages whatsoever. The only thing that I can do is read and write mail, also, my favorites pull up but when I click on one I just get a blank page. I have been in contact with aol and frankly they were no help at all.....I have done 6 different uninstalls and reinstalls of several different versions with no success....I have done browser fix, repair/update adapter, restore function. This has been going on for a month now and I cant fix it. I have AVG 8.0 running as well as Spybot, malwarebytes and spywareblaster as well as running M$ firewall. I have done full scans of my C drive and has found nothing. I also run CCleaner - nothing seems to work. My IE works just fine when I go to the AOL site as well as my firefox works fine also when I pull up the aol site. I know that AOL is not alot of peoples fav but I happen to like it and althought I use Firefox more than AOL I still like to work in it. Any suggestions as to what can be preventing web pages from loading???? I look forward to any and all replies!!! :)

Did you make any changes just before this started to happen?

A coulple of things to try.

Check your firewall settings to make sure AOL has full access.
Check AOL's parental controls to see if it could be blocking it.

Yes, the changes I made was I uninstalled zonealarm completely and turned the Windows firewall on. I checked Windows firewall and all the boxes for AOL were checked. I also checked and there is no parental controls on....it is the strangest thing. AOL tech support doesn't have a clue either. I just do not know what else to do at this point!!!! Is there anything else that I can check? I did go into the system information for AOL and there are 23 errors, all from Nov 5th and 6th. I look forward to any other suggestions :)

What did this tell you? Can you cut/paste or screen print the latest errors?

I did do a print screen but it would not let me copy and paste in here. Here are the errors:

Could not download art from: http://cdncf.aol.com/se/smi0201ie05fca/02
(last 2 digits go from 01 to 16 for a total of 16 of these errors)

FP Sync: ConfigErr: Socket Error_1:Code=10061 (4 of these)

PNH Sync: Time out, host is not responding (3 of these)

FP busy syncing, unable to request a sync (1 of these)

Sorry I miss counted - there are 24 error messages and I do not know what any of them mean....

I have run CCleaner and it cleaned up my registry but there was nothing there showing anything in relation to zonealarm. I have even checked with IE and Firefox to see if AOL was blocked....it is not. I do not know what else to do!!!! There has got to be an answer ..........there is something, somewhere that I am missing......as always I look forward to help :)

    Hi, Kathy

Since no one else has responded to your post, I wanted you to know that you've not been forgotten even though my advice will not likely provide any new ideas. I've used Aol for many years and also now use M. Firefox. Something that stands out in your post is the use of several programs that block web content. I use AVG Free antivirus along with the standard XP firewall. I use Adaware occasionally to clean up but have not yet found anything of any significance. I've also used Spybot in the past with the same results. Reinstalling Aol several times eliminates the inadvertent selection of an option that prevents access to web content unless you are doing something immediately after installation that is creating the problem. Given the fact that you are an experienced user, that's unlikely. If you have not yet resolved the problem, I suggest you begin removing the internet security related programs one at time to determine if one of them has been set to prevent web site access for the Aol program. These programs can be reinstalled once you have determined they are not the source of the problem. If you think about it, the problem almost has to be (security) software related as opposed to a hardware problem since you do have internet access while using Firefox. There is an outside chance that a Windows service has been disabled to prevent access but it would seem that you could not connect using Firefox were that the case. I hope something here may be helpful or made you or another contributor think of something that might resolve the problem for you. I would like to know what you find the cause to be. Hope you soon get it resolved if not already.

Good morning and welcome to MG - I appreciate the time you have taken to reply to my post. yes, the issue has been resolved (no help from AOL at all) - as a matter of fact I am quite embarrassed to say that I did not post the that the issue was resolved.

What I found out was that I needed to upgrade my IE to 7. Once that was done AOL worked fine. Again, thank you for your post and I know that you will find this forum fantastic as well as all the people that post here. Take care!!:)

    Hi Kathy

Just a longshot but have you tried installing AOLs new "aol-lite" called
-AOL Desktop- ?? It may give you access where the full fledged AOL
    environment is not.

Wish you luck with your problem.
