AOL won't let me download!

Hi
I am new here, so hope I'm in the right place. My old computer died and I now have the Vista operating system. I need new drivers for my HP 3-in-one, but cannot seem to get my computer to download. First I should say that because of a move I had to go back to dial-up, and I have AOL(only ISP that would work with Vista). When I try to download when I am connected with AOL, IE opens up and tries to dial AOL-therefore nothing works right! Can any one help? Is there anyway to set the computer to use IE and only use AOL for dial up?
