I have been getting a System Error message more frequently lately and wonder what it's all about. It says "Insufficient system resources to complete the API." I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that I recently upgraded my RAM from 512 to 2 G. This message did not occur prior to that.

    Any enlightment?

Suprised no one else has looked at your post, this should bbe a boost anyway.

I'm not sure that your new memory is correct for you Toshiba, which model laptop is it?

You have a 1.6Ghz celeron pentium M processor with a 400 Mhz bus speed.
The memory is 533 Mhz DDR2.
In theory the faster memory should be fine, but it is not matched to the processor.
How did you come to choose it?

The lack of resources warning is normally when you have not enough memory, rather than too much.
Or when you have too many windows open at once.
It can also occur if your hard drive is nearly full- I see yours is 80GB SATA so this is unlikely, but check.
It can also occur if something (a worm) is running amok and eating up available resources. This would be co-incidnetal to your extra memory.
Can you put the old back to prove whether it is associated with the memory or something else?

Satellite I got the memory from Crucial.com following their suggestions - the first set from them didn't work and then they sent me a set that was slightly different and they worked OK.

I don't have the old memory anymore - I removed the two memory pieces and swapped them when I replaced them. Everything seems to be working OK.

I guess I'll just wait and see if I get the error message again.

    Thanks for your input.

Concerned that Crucial memory didn't work. This is the first time I've ever heard of that. I normally recommend Crucial.

    Keep us posted about developments.
