Apparent Bundleware Problem

Very recently, I got the Blue Screen of Death, and Microsoft Windows tier 2 technicians determined I needed to reinstall Windows 10, which I did. (Of course, I had to then reinstall all my apps, and restore all my personal data.) The PC then ran fine, at first.

Over the next day or so, my PC slowed down A LOT. So I rebooted it, but I immediately had trouble launching Windows again. But I fought with Windows until it finally let me boot up. But now, I’m afraid to try to reboot again.

I’ll just consult Microsoft about my boot-up problem again, BUT:

On rebooting my PC just now, WinPatrol keeps telling me “A new Internet Explorer Helper or Add-On has been detected,” no matter how many times I click on “Reject Change.”

These Helpers or Add-Ons are as follows, and WinPatrol gives a few details about each of them.

    • Skype for Business Browser Helper (x64)
    Skype for Business
    Microsoft Corporation
    No Copyright information included.

    • HP Smart Print, Send to OneNote, and OneNote Linked Notes:
    No Description found
Company name not included in this program.
    No Copyright information included.

All 4 of these apps are shown under the IE Helpers tab in WinPatrol. I tried to remove them all, but WinPatrol said “No files will be deleted from your hard drive but this object will no longer work with your browser,” and they don’t disappear from the IE Helpers list, and WinPatrol keeps sending me these warning messages.

I’m very familiar with IE but not Edge, so I’d like to keep using IE if possible. (Of course, I’ll buckle down and finally learn Edge if I have to.)

So, is there a quick fix, or should I just uninstall IE?

BTW, I ran every kind of disk scan on SeaTools, and they all passed.

    Thanks for any help.

Perhaps remove WinPatrol or at the least, stop it from running at startup.

It has not been developed/patched/updated since 2017 and the certificate expired in Feb. 2018 and again in Feb. 2019.
As far as I can tell, it hasn't been renewed this year. When I try to go to WinPatrol.com, I'm told the site is not safe. Probably due to an expired certificate.

I'm sure with no updates since 2017, it hasn't kept pace with the versions of Windows 10.

A few friends running the latest Windows 10 have had similar problems.
I advised them to remove WinPatrol. It's no longer the great program it once was. :(

OK, guys, I uninstalled WinPatrol, and I just ran MajorGeeks’ series of antimalware apps, so here are the log files and a couple screenshots.
