Do they call it 'Black Friday' in the land down under?

 

No, not that I have heard.
Friday the 13th might qualify, as it only comes around a few times a year.

Oh okay - I started to wonder if the event had spread to other countries. I do suspect that is why Apple picked that day though.

 

What is the BF in the USA?
Is it the Friday following Thanksgiving?

Yeah it's the day after Thanksgiving where all the big retail stores put out a huge amount of discounted stock. It starts at like 5am and it's like a gold rush with swarms of people in the streets, and some people camping out the stores while it's still Thanksgiving.

I find it really ironic - Thanksgiving is the time we are meant to spend time with our family and be thankful for what we have. Because of Black Friday many people ditch their family to go camp outside the store in the hopes of getting more stuff!
