    HI,

I downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy. The Program did it's search, but when it was time to fix the problems it wasn't able to.

A box appeared with the following message: This application failed to start because WDENGINE.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.

How and where do I go to install this application? I am using windows XP. Thanks for you help. :)

Thank you for your response, sadly enough it didn't help. I reran Spybot Search&Destroy, this time when I clicked on repair, the box came up that it was finding a restore point. This box stayed up for a good 10mins. so I exited out. I then ran the anti spyware again and received the same results.

This time when the box froze with the message finding system restore point, I clicked on the applications name at the bottom of the toolbar and I recieved the same box with the same message as stated in my first post.

    Any suggestions?

Ok, you are posting on majorgeeks asking where to download Spybot S&D?:D

The way I am reading that error report, you are being advised to delete the program and reload it. look for the mirror on the download page.

    BLAJY,

That should work. Do you have the latest version of SpyBot? If not, get it here, http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html install, do the search for updates now and get any updates, then exit.

Then, make sure you follow the method listed above. If you still get the same results, do a search (Wild Tangent stuff). and post what you come up with and maybe we can help from there.

    Hello again,
    > Steve did everything you mentioned in your post. Still getting a freeze up when it comes to the application trying to find a restore point. So the scan goes off without a hitch, but when it is time to fix the problems the scan can't proceed.

    > I even turned off both prompts in the advanced mode that referred to finding a restore point. Reran the scan and the same problem exists.

    > This is the third time I deleted and downloaded this program. Which brought me another problem....

    > There were two files under my documents with Spybot Search@Destroy headings. I was successful deleting one, but the other file I now cannot delete. I ran a search and found advcheck.dll and deleted it, but the file still remains under my document headings. A box pops up stating:

    > Cannot delete DSHelper.dll: Access is denied, make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use. < Any help on any of these two problems would be greatly appreciated!!! :)
    > I know this is long, sorry I tried to give the condensed version. ;)

TJET- Ha,Ha! very funny. BTW the mirror on the download page worked. :)

Spybot can't fix them all, not really sure why, but oh well.

Matacumbie- Thanks for your help. :)

Well thank's. I was positive that Kodo's suggestion from Spyware would work, just wanted to make sure you were following everything, sometimes little things you overlook or omit can make a big difference. Other than that, I can't say I was much help.

You deserve alot of the credit, sounds like you are making progress. There are several good tutorials in the Spyware Specific section here, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35 just look at the top for Sticky. If you feel you are still having spyware related problems that is a great place to start.

    Good luck,

    Steve
