Apps for Windows Task Manager?

Vista....I notice that there are a lot of little apps that tell you how much Ram/Memory and CPU that you are using. But I want an app that I can run in the background that also tells me how many processes I have running without me needing to manually count them, and also in the "Processes" list I see the Memory(private work setting) numbers, I want those numbers added up for me too. Anyone know of any small apps that do this for you?

Some questions I should ask if what I am asking for is dumb......I notice that in the Performance window that the number 83 is listed next to the proesesses name in the lower section, but when I switch over to the Processes window, then I count 21, where are these other processes coming from?

Also is the Memory(private work setting) the same as the Memory listed in the performance window? It does not appear to be the same numbers added up. But my conversion from K to GB could be off.

If you hit " Show processes from all users" all will list. Core System processes amongst others which are critical. Depending on user rights and elevation.

To be honest they don't add up right for me either, Total -Cached and free Vs % used On this box I'm off by 100-150 MB with dedicate Gfx RAM. Really no issue for me though.

With "Show all processes"you don't need to count. As for memory usage I'm not aware of an app that will total in KB/Mb. I'm OK with percentage.
